The Barony of al-Barran is a chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc (SCA). The SCA is a non-profit organization devoted to researching and recreating the Middle Ages in the present. Some members concentrate on the study of the European Middle Ages and Renaissance Eras, with many members working to recreate the arts and skills of these eras. Other members concentrate on the study of Middle East and Asian Cultures, with many members working to recreate the arts and skills of their chosen areas and also explore the interaction between Europe and Asia during the periods under study.
In the "Known World of the Current Middle Ages" al-Barran is Located within the Kingdom of the Outlands. The Barony was originally established by the Kingdom of Atenvelt on November 11, 1975. Our first baron was Sir Raymond the Quiet.
In the modern world al-Barran is centered around Albuquerque, New Mexico and extends north to Algodones, east to Moriarty, west to Grants, and south to Belen.
