Regular Activities

Citizen's Meeting: Third Tuesdays beginning at 6:30PM, at the Manzano Mesa Multigenerational Center

What Is This: The monthly business meeting for the group. An excellent place to meet officers and see what is happening now and in the future of al-Barran.

Directions: Take I-40 to the Eubank Blvd exit (No. 165). Turn south onto Eubank Blvd. Continue onto Eubank Blvd past Central Avenue. Turn east (left) onto Southern Avenue. Turn south (right) onto Elizabeth St. The Manzano Mesa Multigenerational Center is at 501 Elizabeth St SE, Albuquerque, NM 87123 at the corner of Southern and Elizabeth.

Fighter Practice: Sundays 11AM-4PM, at Montgomery Park

What Is This: The weekly martial practice for both heavy/hardsuit and rapier/fencing fighters. Come see the clash of arms and talk to the people of the community. The College of Blaiddwyn also holds a weekly fighter practice.

Directions: Montgomery Park is on the east side of San Mateo Blvd just north of Comanche Rd.

Archery Practice: Saturday 10:00 - noon. During the colder months (roughly December through April) it's at Sir Stefan’s Winter Wander Range. During the warmer months (May through November) it's at Master Tore's.

What Is This: Weekly practice to sharpen your skills for the range and the field.

Directions to the Summer Mountain Range:Take I-40 to Tijeres, stay in the middle lane and continue straight after the stop light, (Highway 337) continue to mile marker 20 you will see a sign for the town of Yissiry. Turn right at the second Woodpecker Circle turnoff and it's the first house on the left.


Directions to the Winter Wander Range:
It is located just south of Menaul Blvd NE (parking is available in the lot on the SW corner of Menaul and Broadway) Entrance to the range is the alleyway immediately south of the PINK apartments on the west side of Broadway. Follow the wooden fence west to the archery range.

Court Dance Practice: Generally held in conjunction with al-Barran fighter practice, times and dates vary.

What Is This: A chance to get your Middle Ages groove on. Learn tradition circle dances, bransles, pavanes, and various other dances from the Middle Ages. If you're there at the right time, there might even be a pickup Hole in the Wall session.

Scribe's Workshop: 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month at 6:00 pm, locations vary

What Is This: Bring a project or come to learn about Calligraphy and Illumination.

Weaving Knowledge Exchange & Workshop: Third Friday of every month at 7:00pm at Her Excellency Monika the Fair's home.

What Is This: A group of workshops happening within the Barony of al-Barran that will explore the study and application of all types of weaving and their history.

Newcomers Household Meeting: The second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 pm at 2709 Flor Silvestre NW.

What Is This: New to the SCA? Find out all about it and about your local barony here.

Directions:: From Coors & Montano, go south on Coors to Ladera. Turn west (right) on Ladera. Go west on Ladera for approximately 1.5 miles. Flor Silvestre is on the left side of the road, one block past the park (El Rancho Atrisco Park, also on the left side of the road). Turn left onto Flor Silvestre; house is first house on west (right) side of the road.
From Coors & I-40, exit straight onto the frontage road (WalMart and Chili's should be on your right) - do NOT get onto Coors. At the stoplight (Ouray), turn west (left). Flor Silvestre is 5th street on the right. Turn north (right) onto Flor Silvestre; house is last house on west (left) side of the road.
From Unser & I-40, go north on Unser to Ladera. Go east (right) on Ladera. Flor Silvestre is the first street (on the right) past the Ouray stoplight. Turn right onto Flor Silvestre; house is first house on west (right) side of the road.

Blaiddwyn Activities

Blaiddwyn Populace Meeting: First Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm at the Frontier Restaurant

What Is This: The monthly business meeting for the group. An excellent place to meet officers and see what is happening now and in the future of Blaiddwyn.

Directions: Across from the University of New Mexico at the corner of Central and Cornell

Blaiddwyn Fighter Practice (heavy and light): Wednesday evenings 7-9PM, South side of Johnson Field on the UNM campus

What Is This: The weekly martial practice for both heavy/hardsuit and rapier/fencing fighters. Come see the clash of arms and talk to the people of the community.

Blaiddwyn A&S Meetings: Friday evenings 7-9:00pm, in the Student Union Building (Building #60) on the top floor.

What Is This: This is an open forum for you to bring in, and work on, all things crafty. We have sewing machines for your sewing projects, we have yarn for your knitting projects, we have space for you to work and fun conversation to work with, we will have a rotating schedule of people coming in to help teach people.

Blaiddwyn Dance Practice: Monday evenings 7-9:00pm, in the Student Union Building (Building #60) on the top floor.

What Is This: Court and Middle Eastern dancing styles are taught and practiced. I will bring music, my dance book, belts and if reminded my drum. Drummers and musicians are always welcome at any practice. All skill and experience levels welcome as well. Come have some healthy fun with us.
