IN REGARDS TO YOUTH,
Due to the ever fluidic nature of the boundaries that seperate the current mediaval ages and the mundane world, there have been some changes made to the rules, regulations, and manners in which minors are governed.
Registration:
- Youth must have all appropriate documents filled out by their parents or legal gaurdians.
- If you are bringing a minor to the event that is not your child or legal ward:
- Temporary Guardians Policy and required forms
(new Outlands Policy, effective January 1, 2011)
Minors may not attend events unless accompanied by a responsible adult - a parent, legal guardian, or a temporary legal guardian. Minors must be checked in at the gate by an adult, either their parents, legal guardians (with copies of their court documents) or a “Temporary Guardian.” Minors cannot be checked in at the gate, by other minors, even their own siblings. Adults, who bring minors to Outlands events for whom they are not the Parent or Legal Guardian (as appointed by a court), are considered to be Temporary Guardians. - Temporary Guardians,
must bring for each minor, three copies each of the following three forms:
1) The notarized “Child Guardian Consent Form”,
2) a notarized “Medical Authorization for Minors” form, and
3) the “Minor's Consent to Participate and Hold Harmless Agreement” form. - Please note that all three of these forms must be signed by the youth’s parents or legal guardians in advance and their signatures on two of these forms must be notarized.
- If at the time of check-in at the gate, the Temporary Guardian has a current SCA blue membership card for said minor, they do not have to present the “Minor’s Consent to Participate and Hold Harmless Agreement” form.
- The Minors Consent to Participate and Hold Harmless Agreement form will be kept at the Gate and the Temporary Guardian will keep the other two forms. Copies of these three forms are in the back of the “Local Group’s Youth Handbook” and on this website, under forms at Minor Forms. A local group may require more than one copy of each of these three forms for their event.
- Temporary Guardians Policy and required forms
- These forms must be in triplicate and all copies MUST be notarized so make sure to take all copies with you when you get them notarized.
- Two copies go to the gate, one will be kept with the gate, one will be given to the Seneschal, the third copy should be kept on your person.
- In addition to the notarized forms, the Minor Consent to Participate and Hold Harmless Agreement must be filled out and signed by either the parent/legal Guardian or the Temporary Guardian.
If all of these requirements are not met then the minor and the accompanying adult will be turned away from the event. No Exceptions Will Be Made. So please be sure to have all of your forms in order. If you have any questions about the forms or procedures or need assistance understanding them or filling them out you can contact the Autocrat (kalenvor@gmail.com) or the Seneschal (seneschal@al-barran.org). We thank you in advance.
At the event:
-
Minors should remain with their Parent/Legal Guardian/Temporary Guardian. If they are not with their guardians then the two deep rule applies.
"For all SCA Youth Activities, a mininimum of 2 adults (at or above the age of legal majority in the state, province or country in which the activity occurs) unrelated to one another by blood, marriage or relationship, must be present. This policy does not relieve parents of their primary responsibility for the welfare and behavior of their children."
It is with regret that I announce that there will be no coordinated youth activities for this event.
